\u5c0a\u656c\u7684 WESTAF \u53d7\u6258\u4eba\uff1a<\/span><\/p>\n

\u8fd9\u662f\u5230\u672c\u8d22\u5e74\u7ed3\u675f\u524d\u4ec5\u5269\u7684\u4e09\u671f\u53cc\u5468\u520a\u4e2d\u7684\u7b2c\u4e00\u671f\u3002\u7531\u4e8e\u75ab\u60c5\u7684\u5e7f\u6cdb\u800c\u5267\u70c8\u7684\u5f71\u54cd\uff0c\u6211\u4eec\u5728\u4eca\u5e74\u4e0a\u534a\u5e74\u548c\u4e0b\u534a\u5e74\u6240\u7ecf\u5386\u7684\u4ee4\u4eba\u9707\u60ca\u7684\u51b2\u51fb\u65e0\u8bba\u600e\u4e48\u8bf4\u90fd\u4e0d\u4e3a\u8fc7\u3002\u65b0\u51a0\u75ab\u60c5\u5c31\u50cf\u4e00\u80a1\u6d77\u5578\uff0c\u5b83\u4e0d\u4ec5\u6ca1\u6709\u6467\u6bc1\u7a7a\u95f4\u5185\u7684\u9053\u8def\u3001\u6811\u6728\u548c\u5efa\u7b51\u7269\uff0c\u53cd\u800c\u6467\u6bc1\u4e86\u65f6\u95f4\u4e0a\u7684\u8ba1\u5212\u3001\u5e0c\u671b\u548c\u68a6\u60f3\u3002\u9762\u5bf9\u5982\u6b64\u6301\u7eed\u7684\u4e0d\u786e\u5b9a\u6027\uff0c\u5236\u5b9a 2021 \u8d22\u5e74\u9884\u7b97\u662f\u4e00\u9879\u8270\u5de8\u7684\u4efb\u52a1\uff0c\u4f46\u56e2\u961f\u8fce\u63a5\u4e86\u6311\u6218\uff0c\u5e76\u5c06\u5728\u77ed\u671f\u5185\u5411\u8463\u4e8b\u4f1a\u63d0\u4ea4 2021 \u8d22\u5e74\u9884\u7b97\u3002\u4e3a\u4e86\u8fce\u63a5\u65b0\u7684\u4e00\u5e74\uff0c\u9886\u5bfc\u56e2\u961f\u5c06\u5728 9 \u6708\u521d\u7684\u4e24\u6b21\u4f1a\u8bae\u4e0a\u5206\u4eab\u548c\u8ba8\u8bba BAR CAT \u516d\u4e2a\u90e8\u95e8\u7684 2021 \u8d22\u5e74\u76ee\u6807\u3001\u4efb\u52a1\u3001\u6311\u6218\u548c\u5a01\u80c1\u3002\u8fd9\u4e9b\u4f1a\u8bae\u4e3b\u8981\u4ee5\u4fe1\u606f\u6027\u4e3a\u4e3b\uff0c\u4e14\u76f8\u5bf9\u975e\u6b63\u5f0f\uff0c\u4f1a\u7559\u51fa\u65f6\u95f4\u4e0e\u540c\u4e8b\u5206\u4eab\u6211\u4eec\u5728\u8fdb\u5165 10 \u6708\u53ca\u4ee5\u540e\u6700\u5173\u5fc3\u7684\u95ee\u9898\uff0c\u5305\u62ec\u6211\u4eec\u6e34\u671b\u5b9e\u73b0\u7684\u5927\u578b\u9879\u76ee\u6216\u8ba1\u5212\uff0c\u4ee5\u53ca\u53ef\u80fd\u963b\u788d\u6211\u4eec\u7684\u4e00\u4e9b\u5a01\u80c1\u3002\u4e0e\u6b64\u540c\u65f6\uff0c\u4ee5\u4e0b\u662f\u8fc7\u53bb\u4e24\u5468\u6211\u4eec\u4e00\u76f4\u5173\u6ce8\u7684\u4e00\u4e9b\u4e8b\u9879\uff1a<\/span><\/p>\n

In a special session, the Utah Legislature recently passed two pieces of legislation, <\/span>SB6009<\/span><\/a> CARES Act and COVID-19 Assistance and Recovery Amendments and <\/span>HB6002<\/span><\/a> Supplemental Budget Balancing and Coronavirus Relief Appropriations, which will expand relief and recovery funding available to arts and cultural organizations across the state. The new measures provide a $7.5 million refill to the Create in Utah grants program managed by the Utah Division of Arts and Museums and change some of the eligibility criteria to make the grants available to a broader cross section of the arts and culture field. The legislation brings the total state relief and recovery funding for arts and culture to $16.5 million in Utah and the total sum of such packages across the region to $67.5 million. The measures also provide a $3 million refill to the Multicultural Affairs grants of the Utah Division of Multicultural Affairs, an agency of the state\u2019s Department of Heritage and Arts, bringing total grants to $4 million. The legislation also provides $3.9 million for Wi-Fi access in San Juan County that could expand access for Navajo Nation, a community severely affected by the pandemic. Congratulations again to WESTAF Trustee Vicki Bourns, the Utah Division of Arts and Museums, the Utah Cultural Alliance, and advocates across Utah for making the case for arts and culture and in a manner that strengthens the equity focus.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u62dc\u767b\u56fd\u5bb6\u827a\u672f\u653f\u7b56\u59d4\u5458\u4f1a (CG)<\/b><\/h2>\n

Christian attended his first convening of this committee last week. Vice President Biden\u2019s presidential campaign has identified the arts as an important policy area and has established this arts policy committee. The Committee is chaired by Megan Beyer, who served as the executive director of the President\u2019s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities in the Obama-Biden Administration, and George Stevens, Jr., who was the co-chair of the President\u2019s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities from 2009-2016. Sonia Tower is serving as vice-chair for this effort. Co-Chairs also include Henry Munoz, Kal Penn and Alfre Woodward. During this meeting we also received a presentation from AFTA\u2019s Nina Tunceli on the recently launched <\/span>Arts Action Fund Arts Vote 2020 campaign<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u6ce2\u7279\u5170\u827a\u672f\u751f\u6001\u8bc4\u4f30\u7814\u7a76 (CG)<\/b><\/h2>\n

Christian attended a seminar conducted by Michael Kaiser, president emeritus of the Kennedy Center and others from the <\/span>DeVos Institute for Arts Management<\/span><\/a> to present a research project launched last year to better understand the current state of arts organizations in the Portland metro area. The study was commissioned through a partnership with the <\/span>MJ Murdock Charitable Trust<\/span><\/a> and other funding partners. The presentation was attended by approximately 50 arts and cultural leaders from the Portland MSA area. The research was quite revealing, indicating, for example, that 73% of Portland organizations surveyed for the study fell short of the national average for board giving. Kaiser went on to offer recommendations for how Portland organizations could collaborate on strengthening the arts ecosystem post-COVID. Another updated presentation is planned on September 10. The second of three all-staff workshops with equity and inclusion consultant Carla Mestas is scheduled to take place on August 25. The overarching goals of our work with Carla includes (but certainly not limited to) bringing a sense of togetherness among WESTAF as a staff, team and organization through shared dialogue and learning, and demonstrating our capacity and commitment to the overall responsibility of this work in each of our roles individually and organizationally. The focus of the two-hour session will be on the WESTAF guiding principles: Embracing Identity and will include dialogue around a 20-minute video <\/span>Deconstructing White Privilege with Dr. Robin DiAngelo<\/span><\/a>. The workshop will include small group discussions and personal reflections on race and identity. It is heartening to work in an environment that welcomes these pertinent and timely discussions and provides staff with an opportunity to consider how they, as individuals, and their work intersect with aspects of identity in the workplace and beyond.<\/span><\/p>\n

Beka Whitson of <\/span>Whitson Strategies<\/span><\/a> is now well underway in her work to research, vet and provide strategies for approaching at least 10 new corporate and foundation funders that WESTAF can and should approach in 2021. Her findings will include a crafted development strategy detailing a process to raise at least $200,000 new foundations and corporate partner targets. We\u2019re now working on the first-ever monthly cash flow document for ZAPP for FY21, with Christina leading the effort to project monthly income and expenses for the first 3-6 months of the new fiscal year. We are also developing new ways to retain customers who won\u2019t need to jury for their 2021 festivals.
