This consisted of a \u201cStratPlan Faire,\u201d which included training around <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1Rbjj3PKhbX7PhRVi9gySPanLctcVmv3WpltUnYBFJSs\/edit\">this Agenda<\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #333333;\">, and focusing in on this <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1mz4JeEH75sdw2AkUwV4Ltm9Sf_pQbUSpGusTKkJRGpc\/edit?usp=sharing\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Strategic Plan Cohort FAQ<\/span><\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #333333;\">. Each <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">i<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/spreadsheets\/d\/14jJYGi-VECWv4nmTkWmRro3flrm8L3aay5sXPq5c7xE\/edit?usp=sharing\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ndividual cohort<\/span><\/a> <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #333333;\">split up into their group together for the first time to self-organize and also to review a preliminary Scoping Document (in this case, the <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1FeSzWAOLMuDcPQLMQcO6Cv-rPmo0XMonfVLSdIUZ6V0\/edit?usp=sharing\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thought Leadership &amp; Reach\/Communications Scoping Doc<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">)<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #333333;\">, and to ultimately develop their own. However, the real highlight of the two-day session was valuable coaching and group development and leadership time spent with <a href=\"https:\/\/wellsstreet.com\/about\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Val Atkin<\/span><\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #333333;\">, who dived into some warmly received and immensely helpful Enneagram work as well as some other discussions and team exercises around concepts like \u201c100% Responsibility,\u201d \u201cThe Cost of Quiet,\u201d \u201cTeam Optimization,\u201d and <a href=\"https:\/\/conscious.is\/video\/locating-yourself-a-key-to-conscious-leadership\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cAbove\/Below The Line\u201d<\/span><\/a> <\/span>work. We will have a rough budget by the end of June and will be able to nail down staff salaries at that time. Therefore, it makes more sense to hold off on the &#8220;transition&#8221; review process until August when that information is known. The staff will plan on conducting transitional reviews in mid to late August. <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1Treia-pXf_ZlG4H3rEn0eVOnuchWN71DCRVvxIK33Eg\/edit\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This document<\/span><\/a> is the best outline of what will be covered in these meetings (which includes telling them their new salary, bonus and discuss changes to their job description), there are some purple updates since the StratPlan Faire. The convening brought together cultural and community leaders from across the country to explore the various identities, opportunities and realities of rural America. The WESTAF delegation had the opportunity to connect with folks from various organizations and communities from across the country, including NASAA, several of our fellow RAOs, other state arts agencies and national organizations. The &#8220;roving plenaries&#8221; format meant attendees had a chance to see and directly experience rural places, including <a href=\"http:\/\/sippculture.com\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sipp Culture<\/span><\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #333333;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 16px; color: #333333;\">and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hindscc.edu\/locations-facilities\/Utica-campus\/index#gsc.tab=0\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hinds Community College Utica Campus<\/span><\/a>, a Historically Black College and University (HBCU) in Utica, MS. We listened, we shared, we felt the humidity, we ATE! One of the considerations the conference brought into focus for the WESTAF contingent was the varied dimensions of the rural West.
