R\u00e9ponse de WESTAF au COVID-19<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Since March, WESTAF has tracked the impact of the COVID-19 crisis on the arts field in the West as well as related policy and funding developments, sharing this information with arts service organizations and arts funders in the West and nationally as we formulate ways to provide relief to the field. WESTAF continues to revise the COVID-19 <\/span>Update<\/a> et <\/span> Ressources<\/a> <\/span>web pages on our website, and a <\/span>presentation\/briefing<\/a> <\/span>is updated weekly, providing deeper insights on state-by-state responses to the impact of COVID-19 on the creative sector. Nearly 800 responses were received for the WESTAF COVID-19 Arts Impact Survey, and final survey findings show <\/span>that artists, arts nonprofits, and creative businesses (like design firms, galleries, and photography studios) are facing significant financial challenges from the COVID crisis with limited levels of savings or reserves. Conditions for artists and organizations may worsen as these savings and reserves are depleted. The survey also presents encouraging data that shows that arts nonprofits and creative businesses are by-and-large protecting jobs by avoiding layoffs, but it is unclear how long this protection can be sustained. <\/span>A full survey report is forthcoming.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Fonds de secours WESTAF CARES pour les organisations<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Le Fonds de secours WESTAF CARES pour les organisations a ouvert ses portes le 6 mai et a ferm\u00e9 ses portes le 11 mai, car il a rapidement atteint sa capacit\u00e9 maximale. Soutenu par le National Endowment for the Arts, le Fonds est un programme de subventions comp\u00e9titif fournissant un soutien op\u00e9rationnel g\u00e9n\u00e9ral pouvant atteindre $20 000 aux organisations artistiques et culturelles de l'Ouest touch\u00e9es par la pand\u00e9mie de COVID-19. C<\/b>reative Vitality\u2122 List of 30 Most Creative Small Cities in America<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

On April 29, CVSuite\u2122 released its list of <\/span>The 30 Most Creative Small Cities in America<\/a><\/span>. <\/span>The list is the first in WESTAF’s new series of data-driven profiles celebrating the arts, culture, and creativity of America’s most vital and vibrant places and spaces. WESTAF’s <\/span>Creative Vitality Lists<\/a> <\/span>offer a snapshot of various trends within neighborhoods, regions, and states to highlight creative vitality in communities across the United States. Using data from WESTAF’s <\/span>CVSuite<\/a><\/span> creative economy data tool, the <\/span>Creative Vitality\u2122 Index<\/a> <\/span>(CVI\u2122) was utilized to measure and rank the creative economies of Metropolitan Statistical Areas with populations under 500,000. The CVI is a statistical metric of creative activity per capita within a region. The Index includes data sources from the nonprofit and for-profit arts sectors with indicators in creative occupations, nonprofit revenues, and creative industry sales. Le vendredi 3 avril, WESTAF a organis\u00e9 un atelier virtuel Arts + the Rural West de trois heures avec 25 participants repr\u00e9sentant l'Alliance for California Traditional Arts ; Art of the Rural ; California Arts Council ; Idaho Commission on the Arts ; Epicenter ; Mountain Time Arts ; First Nations Development Institute ; Plains Indian Museum of the Buffalo Bill Center for the West ; Los Angeles County Museum of Art ; le National Endowment for the Arts ; Housing Assistance Council\/Citizens' Institute on Rural Design ; Rural LISC ; Wichita Falls Alliance for Arts and Culture ; Center for Education, Business, and the Arts ; Advocates for California Indigenous Language Survival ; Western Folklife Center ; Artes Americas ; et la ville d'Eagle, Colorado. L\u2019\u00e9quipe des Archives d\u2019art public (PAA) d\u00e9ploie des efforts concert\u00e9s pour archiver les projets d\u2019art public qui ont \u00e9t\u00e9 lanc\u00e9s en r\u00e9ponse \u00e0 la COVID-19. Certains de ces projets n\u00e9cessitent la cr\u00e9ation de nouvelles \u0153uvres d\u2019art, tandis que d\u2019autres peuvent inclure une programmation visant \u00e0 interagir avec des \u0153uvres d\u2019art existantes dans les collections d\u2019art public du monde entier. \u00c9tant donn\u00e9 que certaines de ces initiatives peuvent \u00eatre temporaires, l\u2019\u00e9quipe des PAA estime qu\u2019il est particuli\u00e8rement important de recueillir des informations sur ces projets d\u2019art public d\u00e8s maintenant, alors qu\u2019ils existent encore dans nos espaces physiques.
