Incorporating some great feedback from trustees following our February meeting, we\u2019re in planning mode for our upcoming virtual board of trustees meetings scheduled for May 19-20. While our meeting will be busy as usual with reports from committees, finance and general updates, we\u2019re making a special effort to make space for discussion and reflection, especially in the later part of the meeting. At a later date, we will be sending trustees a brief questionnaire designed to gauge your appetite for an in-person convening in Denver scheduled for October 27-28. In anticipation of this very real possibility, we have made tentative bookings at the <\/span>Brown Palace Hotel<\/span><\/a>, where we last convened together in October of 2019.<\/span><\/p>\n

PROCHAINE PR\u00c9SENTATION D'ARTX (CG)<\/b><\/h2>\n

Invitations went out last week for our third ArtX presentation scheduled for April 28 from 4-5pm MT. For this ArtX Edition we\u2019ll be joined by <\/span>Dr. Lisa Cooper<\/span><\/a>\u00a0 the James F. Fries Professor of Medicine and Bloomberg Distinguished Professor of Equity in Health and Health at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, School of Nursing, and Bloomberg School of Public Health. Dr. Cooper will engage in a conversation with trustee Dr. Bassem Bejjani about whether insights from Dr. Cooper’s research and her efforts at eliminating health disparities be a model for arts and cultural organizations as we address issues of access and inequality in our field. It should be a fascinating presentation and discussion, so if you haven\u2019t yet RSVP to the calendar invitation, please be sure to do so!<\/span><\/p>\n

Anika<\/span><\/a> has, in true WESTAF fashion, had a whirlwind of an onboarding experience over the last two weeks that has included a week-long series of briefings on the SRI department and its programs with Lani, Madalena, and David and meetings with WESTAF\u2019s Technology, Finance and Administration, Marketing and Communications, and many of our Business teams. She has also attended meetings with South Arts about our ELC partnership, with Kaisha Johnson of Women of Color in the Arts about further equity advancement work with our regional performing arts network, and a federal audit training with the National Endowment for the Arts, among other meetings.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

WESTAF is currently working to amplify the Put Creative Workers to Work policy proposals, which has evolved to include a $20 billion package. We have written to the White House and engaged our regional association of chambers of commerce, the Western Association of Chamber Executives. Engaging chambers is an emerging element of our strategies to create a network of advocates outside of the arts (an objective of the WESTAF 10-year vision and strategic plan). David is currently working closely with Heather Noonan and Najean Lee, of the League of American Orchestras advocacy team and facilitators of the Cultural Advocacy Group, to produce the initial draft of a new set of policy recommendations that are being formulated in response to the Biden-Harris Administration comprehensive infrastructure proposal, <\/span>The American Jobs Plan<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This past week, we virtually attended another periodic Getting Creative Workers Working convening, hosted by AFTA. In this session, we <\/span>learned more abou<\/span><\/a>t the fast-emerging ways that states and localities are beginning to think about accessing ARP funds; heard more about the <\/span>various kinds of creative workforce initiatives<\/span><\/a> across the country that are impacting health, equity and work and economic development. If you can think of an initiative like this in your region, you are invited to add to this knowledge bank by submitting your own contribution through <\/span>this simple questionnaire<\/span><\/a>. We also learned about different legislation and proposals in <\/span>Californie<\/span><\/a>\u00a0 <\/span>Massachusetts<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>Hawaii<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>New York<\/span><\/a> et <\/span>Philadelphia<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Le National Endowment for the Arts a ajout\u00e9 une subvention de $200 000 \u00e0 l'accord de partenariat WESTAF pour g\u00e9rer Performing Arts Discovery, une initiative qui vise \u00e0 pr\u00e9senter des pr\u00e9sentateurs internationaux aux artistes et aux compagnies du spectacle des \u00c9tats-Unis, r\u00e9duisant ainsi les obstacles pour les artistes am\u00e9ricains \u00e0 l'\u00e9tranger. CONVOCATION DE L'AUDIT F\u00c9D\u00c9RAL DU FONDS DE DOATION DES ARTS (CG)<\/b><\/h2>\n

Several members of the WESTAF team attended a very useful virtual convening for SAAs and RAOs hosted by several team members from the <\/span>Office of the Inspector General (OIG)<\/span><\/a> at the National Endowment for the Arts. Most of our sister RAOs have been subject to OIG audits in the past 3-5 years. It has been at least ten years since WESTAF has been subject to an audit from the NEA OIG, which feels a little like waiting for “The Big One\u201d on the west coast! The OIG team <\/span>walked us through the auditing process<\/span><\/a> and answered lots of questions. An OIG audit will certainly happen at some point in the future, and will require significant bandwidth from our grants and finance teams, but as we reviewed the audit process as a team, our sense was that we are sufficiently prepared for the inevitable.<\/span><\/p>\n

LEADERS OF COLOR NETWORK SKILLSHARE PR\u00c9VU POUR LE 29 AVRIL (DH)<\/b><\/h2>\n

Le 29 avril 2021, \u00e0 14h00, heure des Rocheuses, WESTAF accueillera la troisi\u00e8me \u00e9dition de notre Skillshare Leaders of Color. Nos skillsharings trimestriels sont une opportunit\u00e9 pour les membres du r\u00e9seau Leaders of Color de se connecter gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 des connaissances partag\u00e9es en tant que communaut\u00e9 d'apprentissage. La p\u00e9riode de candidature pour TourWest s'est termin\u00e9e le 15 avril et nous avons re\u00e7u 247 candidatures. Lani g\u00e8re actuellement le processus de v\u00e9rification de l'\u00e9ligibilit\u00e9 en collaboration avec Jessica Gronich, Natalie Scherlong, Anika et David.<\/span><\/p>\n

MISE \u00c0 JOUR DE LA COLLECTE DE FONDS (CG)<\/b><\/h2>\n

A more thorough update will come at the May board of trustees meeting, but we recently submitted an LOI to the Sloan Foundation\u2019s <\/span>Universal Access to Knowledge<\/span><\/a> funding program. We\u2019re also following up with great interest on the merger between the Patrick McGovern Foundation and the Cloudera Foundation, and their new <\/span>Data and Society<\/span><\/a> brief has particularly resonated with us. Both of these approaches could potentially accelerate WESTAF\u2019s work at the intersection of art and technology. Additionally, we\u2019re positioning ourselves for an introduction to the<\/span> Satterberg Foundation<\/span><\/a>. We\u2019re also getting ready to submit an LOI to the <\/span>US Bank Foundation<\/span><\/a>. As you know, we have submitted a completed proposal and all requested backup material to the MJ Murdock Charitable Trust and expect a final decision on May 27. We are also expecting feedback, follow up on LOIs submitted to the Mellon Foundation and to the American Express Foundation.<\/span><\/p>\n

SESSION D'AUTOGESTION DES CONFLITS D'UNE JOURN\u00c9E (CG)<\/b><\/h2>\n

Le 13 avril, l'\u00e9quipe WESTAF a particip\u00e9 \u00e0 une s\u00e9ance d'autogestion des conflits d'une journ\u00e9e, anim\u00e9e par Debbie Stone avec le Conseil des employeurs. Bien que la s\u00e9ance ait \u00e9t\u00e9 longue (surtout sur Zoom), l'animatrice \u00e9tait engageante et la communaut\u00e9 WESTAF \u00e9tait impliqu\u00e9e, apportant de nombreux commentaires perspicaces et une participation active tout au long de la pr\u00e9sentation. Nous savions que c'\u00e9tait quelque chose que nous voulions faire, mais nous n'\u00e9tions pas vraiment s\u00fbrs de la mani\u00e8re dont la s\u00e9ance se d\u00e9roulerait finalement. Je pense que dans l'ensemble, nous avons \u00e9t\u00e9 surpris et satisfaits de l'occasion de r\u00e9fl\u00e9chir \u00e0 la fa\u00e7on dont nous abordons et abordons les conflits sur le lieu de travail.<\/span><\/p>\n

POINT SUR LA R\u00c9UNION MENSUELLE DU RAO (CG)<\/b><\/h2>\n

We convened with our RAO colleagues for our regular monthly meeting. We received a presentation and information on the Air Institute\u2019s <\/span>NCAPER Crisis Analysis and Mitigation program<\/span><\/a> for arts responders, with RAOs agreeing to put the word out to our regions to try and field a few candidates for this program. We also discussed our intentions to furnish the Mellon Foundation with a brief proposal for a follow-up funding program for the Regional Arts Resilience Fund. Lastly, we\u2019re also considering a \u201cdo-over\u201d Chairs and EDs in-person retreat (which never happened because of the pandemic) \u2014 possibly towards the end of September \u2014 in Fort Collins, CO.<\/span><\/p>\n

FINANCES ET ADMINISTRATION (AH)<\/b><\/h2>\n

The HR team is working to prepare the staff and the office on Sherman street to welcome staff back for meetings or co-working needs once the pandemic has passed. WESTAF will make the office available to staff once the city of Denver moves to the \u201cgreen\u201d phase of the <\/span>COVID-19 Dial<\/span><\/a>\u00a0 The staff have been surveyed regarding their interest in using the office space as well. Amy attended a corporate responsibility presentation by our USBank representative who was integral in securing WESTAF both Paycheck Protection Program loans. Becky and Amy attended a nonprofit conference presented by our auditing firm, Plante Moran. Content included changes in tax law, accounting updates, the employee retention tax credit and managing risk. <\/span>The nationwide nonprofit survey results for 2020<\/span><\/a> which was presented at the conference can be found here for your information. With the staff getting vaccinated, the F&A team is working together to plan vacations and cover each other\u2019s work to ensure the pent up need to take vacation and travel can happen with minimal interruption in work this summer.<\/span><\/p>\n

PLANIFICATION STRAT\u00c9GIQUE (NS)<\/b><\/h2>\n

La cohorte des communications continue de peaufiner son enqu\u00eate aupr\u00e8s des parties prenantes et envisage de passer \u00e0 sa prochaine initiative autour de la recherche sur les produits WESTAF, notamment la collecte d'informations sur les diff\u00e9rents \u00e9l\u00e9ments de la marque WESTAF. La cohorte des politiques tiendra sa prochaine r\u00e9union le mardi 20 avril pour passer en revue les prochaines \u00e9tapes. La cohorte des actions accueillera officiellement Anika comme nouvelle marraine lors de sa prochaine r\u00e9union le jeudi 22 avril.<\/span><\/p>\n

AFFAIRES G\u00c9N\u00c9RALES (CV)<\/b><\/h2>\n

Nous sommes ravis d'accueillir notre nouvelle coordinatrice de projets commerciaux, Blair Carpenter, au sein de l'\u00e9quipe WESTAF ! Blair est une chanteuse d'op\u00e9ra\/interpr\u00e8te de th\u00e9\u00e2tre de formation avec une exp\u00e9rience en CRM et en gestion des donn\u00e9es clients, en cr\u00e9ation et conception de sites Web et en gestion de projets. Son premier jour est le 19 avril et elle travaillera en \u00e9troite collaboration avec Natalie V. pour tout savoir sur WESTAF et les cinq plateformes commerciales qu'elle contribuera \u00e0 soutenir. Par ailleurs, nous venons de terminer les r\u00e9unions trimestrielles d'examen des OKR pour les cinq produits SaaS, avec un r\u00e9capitulatif de nos progr\u00e8s du deuxi\u00e8me trimestre dans le prochain QBR.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

CAF\u00c9 (RV)<\/b><\/h2>\n

L'\u00e9quipe CaFE doit pourvoir un poste vacant en raison du d\u00e9part d'Eliza Wetherill le 28\/04\/21. Eliza retournera \u00e0 l'universit\u00e9 cet \u00e9t\u00e9. Elle manquera beaucoup au personnel, mais nous lui souhaitons bonne chance et beaucoup de succ\u00e8s dans sa nouvelle entreprise. Le poste de coordinateur des op\u00e9rations au sein de CaFE sera ouvert imm\u00e9diatement. Les clients commencent \u00e0 revenir apr\u00e8s un an, et nous constatons une grande \u00e9volution en termes de renouvellements et d'inscriptions de nouveaux clients. La nouvelle interface d'administration de CaFE devrait d\u00e9sormais \u00eatre publi\u00e9e fin mai et des avis commenceront \u00e0 \u00eatre envoy\u00e9s aux clients pour annoncer les changements \u00e0 venir.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

CVSUITE (KE)<\/b><\/h2>\n

L'\u00e9quipe CVSuite continue de travailler sur le projet CVList, dont le lancement est pr\u00e9vu pour le 30 avril. L'\u00e9quipe a termin\u00e9 la mise \u00e0 jour du centre d'aide et a d\u00e9cid\u00e9 d'annoncer plus officiellement son ach\u00e8vement en mai apr\u00e8s l'annonce de CVList. Nous avons re\u00e7u un devis pour une am\u00e9lioration de la gestion des mots de passe qui \u00e9tait plus co\u00fbteuse que pr\u00e9vu, l'\u00e9quipe a donc r\u00e9organis\u00e9 certains postes budg\u00e9taires afin de donner la priorit\u00e9 \u00e0 cette am\u00e9lioration importante. SMUData Arts, un ami et un concurrent sain, a contact\u00e9 l'\u00e9quipe et a propos\u00e9 une collaboration de recherche. Nous avons eu une r\u00e9union ensemble cette semaine au cours de laquelle nous avons discut\u00e9 de questions de recherche communes, de domaines d'enqu\u00eate et de projets potentiels sur lesquels nous pourrions nous associer, notamment la soumission d'une proposition pour prendre la parole \u00e0 la conf\u00e9rence du GIA.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

GO SMART (JG)<\/b><\/h2>\n

GO Smart a publi\u00e9 deux nouveaux tickets de d\u00e9veloppement cette semaine. L'un des tickets finalise le passage aux ic\u00f4nes Modifier et Supprimer sur le portail d'administration. Le deuxi\u00e8me ticket am\u00e9liore l'exp\u00e9rience utilisateur lors de la s\u00e9lection des dates et des ann\u00e9es pour les fichiers de leur biblioth\u00e8que multim\u00e9dia en rempla\u00e7ant les menus d\u00e9roulants par des champs de texte et des s\u00e9lecteurs de date. ZAPP et CaFE incluront dans leurs bulletins d'information clients une question demandant si l'un de leurs clients propose \u00e9galement des subventions. En s\u00e9lectionnant oui, ils seront redirig\u00e9s vers une courte enqu\u00eate et Jessica fera un suivi aupr\u00e8s des r\u00e9pondants en tant que prospects potentiels.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

ARCHIVES D'ART PUBLIC (LG)<\/b><\/h2>\n

PAA is pleased to present a new virtual exhibition: <\/span>The Art of Recovery<\/span><\/a>, an initiative of Santa Monica Cultural Affairs. Art of Recovery focuses on three main priorities: economic recovery, community connectedness & restorative justice, and public health & safety through grants for temporary artist projects and installations located throughout the City. The exhibition will continue to be updated as new installations take place. In other news, Lori accepted an invitation to present (virtually) at the upcoming Urban Creativity Conference in Lisbon this summer.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

ZAPP (Mo)<\/b><\/h2>\n

ZAPP has seen an increase in leads in the past couple of weeks with 10 reaching out through our sales site. We also learned <\/span>Events Loca<\/span><\/a>l, a competitor that launched in 2017, is shutting down because of the pandemic. We quickly focused our efforts on aggregating a list of their customers and reaching out with a promotional offer to take 50% off the setup fee. We are hoping to see a few of these efforts transpire into new sales this month!<\/span><\/p>\n
