The National Endowment for the Arts has <\/span>announced four political appointees<\/span><\/a> designated for senior positions at the agency by the Biden-Harris Administration, who will bring their expertise to the Arts Endowment to advance priorities for the new administration. They are Chief of Staff Ra Joy, White House Liaison and Senior Advisor to the Chief of Staff Jennifer (Jenn) Chang, Director of Strategic Communications and Public Affairs Sonia Chala Tower, and Congressional Liaison Ben Kessler. The previous political appointees along with former chairman Mary Anne Carter left the Arts Endowment on January 20. Ann Eilers, Deputy Chairman for Management & Budget, <\/span>serves as Acting Chairman<\/span><\/a> until a new Chairman has been appointed.<\/span><\/p>\n

WESTAF GALVANISE L'APPUI DES D\u00c9FENSEURS DES ARTS DE L'OUEST AUX RECOMMANDATIONS DE POLITIQUE F\u00c9D\u00c9RALE DU CAG (DH)<\/b><\/h2>\n

After several weeks of editing and best efforts to incorporate as much feedback as possible by the Cultural Advocacy Group (CAG), an updated version of The <\/span>Arts and Cultural Sector: Federal Policy Actions<\/span><\/i><\/a> has been finalized and is ready for endorsement. WESTAF recently circulated policy recommendations to members of the Western Arts Advocacy Network (WAAN) and other significant regional stakeholders. An initial version of this statement (featured in your Board Book) was shared, in response to a request, with members of the Biden-Harris transition team, and the new version expands to adopt further recommendations and reflect actions the new Administration has already begun to take. If an organization you are affiliated with would like to add your endorsement, please complete this quick <\/span>Google form<\/span><\/a>. CAG welcomes anyone to share this invitation with other national, state, and regional-level arts organizations.<\/span><\/p>\n

Preparations for ALAS continue with the convenings team implementing plans produced by MarComm and AAP. Session registration will open on the event site Aventri on 2\/10. Meetings with all four panels are being conducted on 2\/12 to review and refine <\/span>the agenda<\/span><\/a> and give the panelists an opportunity to engage in advance of the session. Individual meetings with panelists have also been scheduled in some cases to orient panelists to WESTAF and ALAS. Leah Horn, Samantha Ortega, and Natalie Scherlong are building out the event website. Janae and Justine are working with the Policy Cohort to recruit members to join the ALAS sessions to lead questions and answers with participants.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

WESTAF CONTINUE DE TRAVAILLER POUR ALIGNER LES STRAT\u00c9GIES DE D\u00c9FENSE DES ARTS AU COLORADO (DH)<\/b><\/h2>\n

WESTAF has continued to support a coalition of arts advocates in Colorado to define a new direction and an aligned vision for arts advocacy across the state. The Colorado Cultural Partners group conducted an Advocacy Alignment Survey across the state and was led in a planning session by <\/span>Taloma Partners<\/span><\/a>, a women-owned business\/nonprofit consulting firm. WESTAF is working closely with Colorado Creative Industries; has developed a new relationship with Colorado Business Committee for the Arts through our advocacy funding program; and has taken on in-house management of the lobbyist contract in Colorado with <\/span>Brandeberry McKenna Public Affairs<\/span><\/a> (BBMK), a women-owned lobbying firm who has worked on behalf of the arts in the state for over a decade. The four areas of the developing legislative strategy are securing relief for the field, restoring Creative Districts funding through Colorado Creative Industries, and developing an equity-centered opportunity (potentially for artists). The core objective is protecting the funding for CCI and possibly bringing down additional relief dollars for the field. Legislative work will focus on Colorado Joint Budget Committee members and Colorado General Assembly leadership. The Colorado Arts Caucus will be managed by the Colorado Cultural Partners group with support from BBMK.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On January 28th, we kicked off the year with our 2nd quarterly Leaders of Color Skillshare. The Skillshare is a recent development in our alumni engagement, built at the request of alumni who wanted to learn more from each other.\u00a0 This skillshare call is the next iteration of our formerly regular check in Zoom calls with alumni. Our first skillshare happened in October 2020, and was led by Ashanti McGee (NV\/14) about how to engage with our elected representatives. Victoria Paige Gonzalez (CO\/18), Marketing and Events Coordinator for Denver\u2019s <\/span>Latino Cultural Arts Center<\/span><\/a>, hosted our recent call and shared her knowledge of social media strategy. We were also able to welcome our recent South Arts alumni into the call. Both calls were recorded, and we intend to edit and share these skillshares at a later date.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

SITE WEB DES ANCIENS DE LEADERS OF COLOR (LC) (MS)<\/b><\/h2>\n

Depuis plusieurs mois, l'\u00e9quipe SRI travaille en \u00e9troite collaboration avec MarComm pour cr\u00e9er un site Internet pour les anciens \u00e9l\u00e8ves de Leaders of Color. L'objectif du site est de mettre en valeur nos anciens \u00e9l\u00e8ves et de nouer des relations entre eux et avec des partenaires du secteur plus largement. Depuis quatre ans, le programme Performing Arts Discovery (PAD) de l'Arts Endowment aide les organisations artistiques r\u00e9gionales \u00e0 mettre en place des plateformes d'arts du spectacle dans leur r\u00e9gion qui pr\u00e9sentent le travail d'artistes am\u00e9ricains \u00e0 des diffuseurs bas\u00e9s hors des \u00c9tats-Unis. WESTAF s'est associ\u00e9 \u00e0 Western Arts Alliance (WAA) pour mettre en \u0153uvre ce programme au cours de ces ann\u00e9es. Le Fonds \u00e9tudie une initiative de pr\u00e9sentation virtuelle pour accro\u00eetre la visibilit\u00e9 des artistes am\u00e9ricains sur les march\u00e9s internationaux gr\u00e2ce au PAD. WAA, Arts Midwest et South Arts se r\u00e9unissent cette semaine pour explorer un \u00e9ventuel programme national coordonn\u00e9 qui pourrait devenir PAD 2.0.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00c0 notre grande surprise, WESTAF a re\u00e7u un deuxi\u00e8me pr\u00eat du programme de protection des salaires ! Le montant total s'\u00e9l\u00e8ve \u00e0 1436 000 TP4T et financera les salaires et les avantages sociaux du personnel pendant deux mois et demi. Cela all\u00e8ge consid\u00e9rablement la crise de tr\u00e9sorerie de WESTAF et ZAPP ! L'\u00e9quipe continue de faire avancer divers projets tels que la transition de groupes de clients ZAPP vers les paiements EFT, les progr\u00e8s sur les plans de travail distribu\u00e9s, Becky g\u00e9rant plus compl\u00e8tement le processus de cl\u00f4ture mensuelle et le soutien RH des transitions du personnel.<\/span><\/p>\n

La cohorte des communications a rendu compte lors de la r\u00e9union de l'ensemble de la WESTAF des progr\u00e8s r\u00e9alis\u00e9s dans la planification des OKR. La cohorte des communications a r\u00e9cemment proc\u00e9d\u00e9 \u00e0 un contr\u00f4le des progr\u00e8s des OKR pour \u00e9valuer les livrables et l'avancement des t\u00e2ches et \u00e9tudie actuellement l'application d'une approche de r\u00e9flexion sur la conception aux livrables et \u00e0 la recherche, comme sugg\u00e9r\u00e9 par l'un de nos conseillers fiduciaires. CAF\u00c9 (RV)<\/b><\/h2>\n

The Q2 <\/span>CaFE campaign to art galleries<\/span><\/a> launched on Jan 26. The email campaign was sent to\u00a0 287 prospects and had a 41% open rate. The MarComm team made sure to emphasize our “Create Better Calls” motto and Justine added the video for visual interest. In January, the team added 128 new calls, 10 of which were by new clients. Ken has seen a surge in sales interest from watercolor societies, after <\/span>Justine presented about CaFE<\/span><\/a> with the National Watercolor Society in December.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

CVSUITE (KE)<\/b><\/h2>\n

CVSuite continue de suivre deux pistes : la Nevada Commission on the Arts et Arkansans for the Arts, le Nevada \u00e9tant sur le point de signer le contrat. L'\u00e9quipe technique se pr\u00e9pare \u00e0 publier notre nouvelle am\u00e9lioration des regroupements de codes. Cette am\u00e9lioration concernera chaque partie de l'outil, des tests approfondis seront donc n\u00e9cessaires. Enfin, nous nous pr\u00e9parons au d\u00e9part de Seyans et sommes donc en train d'inventorier les processus et les plans de CVSuite pour pr\u00e9parer la transition.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

GO SMART (JG)<\/b><\/h2>\n

Nous analysons l\u2019engagement des b\u00e9n\u00e9ficiaires de notre derni\u00e8re campagne marketing. Au total, 312 b\u00e9n\u00e9ficiaires ont re\u00e7u un premier courriel d\u00e9but janvier, et 20 destinataires ont ouvert \u00e0 la fois le courriel initial et une campagne de suivi. Jessica contactera individuellement ces clients potentiels et travaillera avec l\u2019\u00e9quipe MarComm pour \u00e9laborer un message appropri\u00e9. Un nouveau client qui s\u2019est inscrit l\u2019\u00e9t\u00e9 dernier, Matanuska-Susitna Borough, nous a pr\u00e9venus qu\u2019il ne renouvellerait pas son abonnement. L\u2019administratrice qui a obtenu GO Smart est partie en cong\u00e9 de maladie, et en son absence, ses coll\u00e8gues ont pris une direction diff\u00e9rente dans l\u2019administration de leur subvention.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

ARCHIVES D'ART PUBLIC (LG)<\/b><\/h2>\n

PAA a finalis\u00e9 le processus de contractualisation des ventes avec la ville de Sunnyvale, en Californie, qui s'abonnera aux fonctionnalit\u00e9s CMS et Showcase de PAA. Une date de lancement public a \u00e9t\u00e9 fix\u00e9e pour d\u00e9but mars pour leur collection. Le d\u00e9veloppement se poursuit sur la refonte des fonctionnalit\u00e9s de recherche et d'exploration de PAA pour am\u00e9liorer le tri, le filtrage et la convivialit\u00e9. As you know, ZAPP\u2019s ownership is made up of a partnership of WESTAF and seven other nonprofit arts organizations. Not only do the partners serve in an advisory capacity, but they also make up a committee that approves the annual operating budget. We send quarterly updates to the partners about the ZAPP business, which includes noteworthy financial adjustments (of which there are many for ZAPP since the onset of the pandemic!), technical changes, sales updates, operational highlights, and updates on the competitive landscape (as applicable). <\/span>CLICK HERE<\/span><\/a> to see our latest update sent to the partners last week.<\/span><\/p>\n
