The first two days also included discussions with artist <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/signsjournal.org\/ana-teresa-fernandez-borrando-la-frontera-erasing-the-border-2011\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ana Teresa Fernandez<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, known for her socially conscious conceptual work, and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.journeyoftheuniverse.org\/bios\/nancy-c-maryboy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dr. Nancy Maryboy<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a pioneer in indigenous education and science who has partnered with the National Science Foundation and NASA over decades, on their artistic, cultural, and leadership paths. This year\u2019s program has already been an exceptionally moving and impactful intergenerational exchange for all of us, as participants, guests, and faculty have shared deeply about their journeys.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>ENCUENTRO Y SALUDO DE LA FONDOS PARA LAS ARTES Y ARP TEE-UP (CG)<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Estas \u00faltimas semanas, Christian y David han tenido la oportunidad de conocer mejor a los nuevos designados de la administraci\u00f3n Biden en el National Endowment for the Arts en una serie de reuniones y giras de escucha independientes. The PDF can be downloaded here: <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/sfca.hawaii.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/SFCA_FY2020-Annual-Report.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">FY2020 SFCA Annual Report<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0 This Annual Report of 2019 \u2013 2020 offers an overview of the past year\u2019s efforts by the State Foundation on Culture and the Arts (SFCA) to focus on the implementation of the goals of its 2019-2023 Strategic Plan priorities of <\/span><b><i>Culture<\/i><\/b><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><\/i><b><i>Education<\/i><\/b><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><\/i><b><i>Engagement <\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">y <\/span><b><i>the Arts<\/i><\/b><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<h2><b>WESTAF PRESENTA UN SEMINARIO WEB DE LA NASAA SOBRE ARTE Y RECUPERACI\u00d3N ECON\u00d3MICA (DH)<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On March 11, David, Professor Doug Noonan of Indiana University, George Tzougros, executive director of Wisconsin Arts Board, and Karen Mittleman, executive director of the Vermont Arts Council, joined NASAA staff for a discussion of the findings of the Arts and Economic Recovery research project and strategies for state arts agencies to pursue to connect the creative sector to state economic recovery efforts. This was the first of NASAA\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/nasaa-arts.org\/nasaa-2021-learning-series\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2021 Learning Series<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for their state arts agency members, which replaces their in person NASAA Assembly. The recording of the session has now been released and is available on the NASAA website and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=LT9Dio6rb90\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">YouTube<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>WESTAF INTEGRA UNA RED PARA CONSEGUIR QUE LOS TRABAJADORES CREATIVOS TRABAJEN RECOPILACI\u00d3N DE DATOS Y APROBACI\u00d3N DE PROPUESTAS DE POL\u00cdTICAS (DH)<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">WESTAF has invited over 200 organizations across the region to submit information about creative workforce projects happening across the country as part of a national data collection effort being mounted by the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.creativeworkers.net\/the-coalition\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Getting Creative Workers Working Coalition<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (of which we are a part) and to endorse the policy proposal <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.creativeworkers.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Put Creative Workers to Work<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. This includes 170 local arts agencies identified using the Americans for the Arts Field Directory. We will be developing and refining our local arts agency contact list over the coming months to more effectively engage with this vital constituency.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>WESTAF Y BBMK PRESENTAN UN PROTECCI\u00d3N DE LAS ARTES EN LA CONVENCI\u00d3N DE DISTRITOS CREATIVOS DE 2021 DE COLORADO CREATIVE INDUSTRIES (DH)<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">David and Megan Wagner of Brandeberry McKenna Public Affairs (the WESTAF contracted lobbyist in Colorado) presented on state and federal arts advocacy at <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.creativitylabcolorado.org\/cci2021\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Colorado Creative Industries\u2019 2021 Creative Districts Convening<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, discussing developments in the past and current Colorado General Assembly sessions, creative districts policymaking nationally even during the pandemic, and national arts advocacy and arts policy developments like Save Our Stages, Put Creative Workers to Work, and Arts Workers Unite.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>EL COMIT\u00c9 DE PRESUPUESTO CONJUNTO DE COLORADO VOTA PARA RESTABLECER LA FINANCIACI\u00d3N DE CCI (DH)<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">El 18 de marzo, el Comit\u00e9 Presupuestario Conjunto de Colorado vot\u00f3 para restablecer los fondos de las Industrias Creativas de Colorado y la Oficina de Cine, Televisi\u00f3n y Medios a sus niveles de 2019-20. Round 4 of the California Small Business COVID-19 Relief Grant Program, The Arts &amp; Cultural Program, supports California eligible cultural institutions defined as registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit entities. Unlike previous rounds, there is no limitation to apply based on annual gross revenue. Applications are being accepted until March 23, 2021. WAAN member Californians for the Arts has been awarded a contract to provide technical assistance in support of this vital program. WESTAF led discussions between Californians for the Arts\/California Arts Advocates and the WESTAF supported lobbyist Shaw Yoder Antwih Schmelzer &amp; Lange to prioritize state relief funding for the arts as one of the priorities for the legislative session. Also of note is Californians for the Arts\/California Arts Advocates coverage in the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2021\/02\/25\/arts\/california-arts-funding.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">New York Times<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, highlighting their collaboration with Otis College of Design on creative economy advocacy.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>CREATIVE NEW MEXICO DESARROLLA NUEVA CAMPA\u00d1A DE DEFENSA DE LAS ARTES EN ESTA SESI\u00d3N LEGISLATIVA (DH)<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Creative New Mexico, the volunteer-led state creative economy advocacy organization in New Mexico, has developed a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2021\/02\/25\/arts\/california-arts-funding.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">campaign highlighting the contributions of arts &amp; culture to New Mexico\u2019s larger economy<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that they\u2019ve directed at New Mexico legislators. Having engaged New Mexico First to facilitate advocacy capacity building efforts in FY20 supported by WESTAF, Creative New Mexico is beginning to take on a more organized and strategic advocacy role in the state.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>INFORME FINAL DE LA NEA 2018 (LM)<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">El equipo de SRI ha completado todos los informes finales para todos los fondos NEA para 2018. As we look to refine the program for a new cohort, we are reflecting on the results of our evaluation survey. 71% of participants were extremely satisfied by the program and the remainder were somewhat satisfied. 86% agreed that workshops helped to strengthen their competencies in order to more confidently step into leadership positions. 100% of participants agreed that they will be able to reach out to the network to better support the communities they represent and serve. 100% of participants also agreed that they have gained a network of like-minded peers and colleagues in their region. In her words, \u201cI cannot say enough about this program. It has made such an impact on me. To be able to meet other arts administrators and arts leaders of color from throughout the South was just so fulfilling. To be able to network with them, talk about equity issues in the arts, and how to navigate these spaces together. We problem solved together. We got to know each other.
