WESTAF COVID-19 Reaktion<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Since March, WESTAF has tracked the impact of the COVID-19 crisis on the arts field in the West as well as related policy and funding developments, sharing this information with arts service organizations and arts funders in the West and nationally as we formulate ways to provide relief to the field. WESTAF continues to revise the COVID-19 <\/span>Update<\/a> and <\/span> Ressourcen<\/a> <\/span>web pages on our website, and a <\/span>presentation\/briefing<\/a> <\/span>is updated weekly, providing deeper insights on state-by-state responses to the impact of COVID-19 on the creative sector. Nearly 800 responses were received for the WESTAF COVID-19 Arts Impact Survey, and final survey findings show <\/span>that artists, arts nonprofits, and creative businesses (like design firms, galleries, and photography studios) are facing significant financial challenges from the COVID crisis with limited levels of savings or reserves. Conditions for artists and organizations may worsen as these savings and reserves are depleted. The survey also presents encouraging data that shows that arts nonprofits and creative businesses are by-and-large protecting jobs by avoiding layoffs, but it is unclear how long this protection can be sustained. <\/span>A full survey report is forthcoming.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

WESTAF CARES Hilfsfonds f\u00fcr Organisationen<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Der WESTAF CARES Hilfsfonds f\u00fcr Organisationen wurde am 6. Mai er\u00f6ffnet und am 11. Mai geschlossen, da er schnell seine Kapazit\u00e4tsgrenze erreichte. Der Fonds wird vom National Endowment for the Arts unterst\u00fctzt und ist ein wettbewerbsorientiertes Zuschussprogramm, das allgemeine Betriebsunterst\u00fctzung von bis zu $20.000 an Kunst- und Kulturorganisationen im Westen bietet, die von der COVID-19-Pandemie betroffen sind. Zu den qualifizierten Organisationen z\u00e4hlen gemeinn\u00fctzige Organisationen nach 501(c)(3), staatliche oder lokale Verwaltungseinheiten, gemeinn\u00fctzige Hochschulen und staatlich anerkannte indianische Stammesregierungen. Die Auszeichnungen werden an Organisationen in der 13 Bundesstaaten umfassenden WESTAF-Region vergeben, wobei pro Bundesstaat mindestens eine Zuwendung vergeben wird. Die Bewerbungen werden von Gremien gepr\u00fcft, die Mitte Juni zusammenkommen, die Bekanntgabe der Auszeichnungen erfolgt bis Juli. C<\/b>reative Vitality\u2122 List of 30 Most Creative Small Cities in America<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

On April 29, CVSuite\u2122 released its list of <\/span>The 30 Most Creative Small Cities in America<\/a><\/span>. <\/span>The list is the first in WESTAF’s new series of data-driven profiles celebrating the arts, culture, and creativity of America’s most vital and vibrant places and spaces. WESTAF’s <\/span>Creative Vitality Lists<\/a> <\/span>offer a snapshot of various trends within neighborhoods, regions, and states to highlight creative vitality in communities across the United States. Using data from WESTAF’s <\/span>CVSuite<\/a><\/span> creative economy data tool, the <\/span>Creative Vitality\u2122 Index<\/a> <\/span>(CVI\u2122) was utilized to measure and rank the creative economies of Metropolitan Statistical Areas with populations under 500,000. The CVI is a statistical metric of creative activity per capita within a region. The Index includes data sources from the nonprofit and for-profit arts sectors with indicators in creative occupations, nonprofit revenues, and creative industry sales. Virtueller Workshop \u201eKunst + l\u00e4ndlicher Westen\u201c<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Am Freitag, den 3. April, veranstaltete WESTAF einen dreist\u00fcndigen virtuellen Workshop zum Thema \u201eArts + the Rural West\u201c mit 25 Teilnehmern, die folgende Gruppen vertraten: Alliance for California Traditional Arts; Art of the Rural; California Arts Council; Idaho Commission on the Arts; Epicenter; Mountain Time Arts; First Nations Development Institute; Plains Indian Museum of the Buffalo Bill Center for the West; Los Angeles County Museum of Art; National Endowment for the Arts; Housing Assistance Council\/Citizens' Institute on Rural Design; Rural LISC; Wichita Falls Alliance for Arts and Culture; Center for Education, Business, and the Arts; Advocates for California Indigenous Language Survival; Western Folklife Center; Artes Americas; und die Stadt Eagle, Colorado. Das Team des Public Art Archive (PAA) unternimmt gro\u00dfe Anstrengungen, um die \u00f6ffentlichen Kunstprojekte zu archivieren, die als Reaktion auf COVID-19 initiiert wurden.
