How did this happen? Let us skim right over that, and convey that we are so very joyful to welcome Anika Kwinana to WESTAF (her first day is today, April 5!) and also to announce that Moana Palalei Hoching is also joining us as a senior policy associate working with David. More information about Moana is included below. These sharp and savvy experts will provide much needed leadership, oversight and support in our SRI and AAP divisions, and we couldn\u2019t be more thrilled that they\u2019re joining the WESTAF community. From there, lots to report \u2014 including a chockablock marketing\/communications check-in from a very busy Leah, and some newsy and very cool business updates \u2014 so let\u2019s get to it, shall we? But wait! Before we go any further, let\u2019s kick this off right with news of a superb trustee achievement&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>WESTAF-VERWALTER BRANDY REITTER WIRD BEI DEN COLORADO CITY AND COUNTY MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION AWARDS ZUM STADTMANAGER DES JAHRES AUSGEZEICHNET (CG)<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Treuh\u00e4nder Mike Lange hat uns darauf aufmerksam gemacht, dass Eagle County am Montag bei der Preisverleihung der Colorado City and County Management Association zum Manager des Jahres abger\u00e4umt hat. Die CCCMA hat die Stadtmanagerin von Eagle und WESTAF-Treuh\u00e4nderin Brandy Reitter als Stadtmanagerin des Jahres ausgezeichnet. Wir begannen mit einer Pr\u00e4sentation unserer Wirtschaftspr\u00fcfungsgesellschaft Plante Moran, die uns durch unsere abschlie\u00dfenden Pr\u00fcfungsdokumente f\u00fchrte und einige Fragen beantwortete. Weitere Einzelheiten hierzu finden Sie in Amys Update unten. Wir gaben auch der Gewalt, die wir als Gemeinschaft erlebt haben, Raum \u2013 gegen\u00fcber der AAPI-Gemeinschaft sowie in Boulder. February is the 5th month of our fiscal year. This is the first month we see the second Paycheck Protection Program loan which is on line 33. Otherwise, income and expense are in a good position and our projected deficit at year end has been significantly reduced from the budget.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>FINANZEN UND VERWALTUNG (AH)<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We are considering changes to our HR &amp; Operations post-pandemic and planning for the shared use of our offices until the lease expires in Dec. Amy researched state tax and legal implications of staff traveling and working from other states per the recommendation of the Employers Council. Amy scheduled time with Anika and Becky for training on how to manage SRI financials. The 990 tax form and audit draft were approved by the excom and the full board via emailed unanimous consent. The<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/19SNEcrfRtwDNZnIr1VodeCNs2bCjkv6YI9edDNAIMeI\/edit\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> document retention policy<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> was reviewed by the excom and shared with all staff who are asked to consider the policy and how it applies to their paper files. An overview of the benefits provided with a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1vz_njkWRPeE9rx5cJyXBXHrHeVfu9gWg\/view\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">membership for WeWork<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> was also discussed with the excom and shared with the full staff.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Vom Leadership-Ressource-Team moderierte Vertrauens-\/Feedback-Sitzung mit Val Atkin (CG)<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This past week, the leadership team participated in a two-hour coaching session with Val Atkin from <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/wellsstreet.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Well Street Consulting<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. This was a powerful level-set meeting with the team around components of trust and psychological safety as well as how to develop a safe and effective feedback culture within the whole organization, something that we\u2019re angling towards as a component of our professional development and evaluation process with Insights.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>INSIGHTS CHECK-IN (CG)<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Speaking of <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/insightsapp.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Insights<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Christian had a productive catch-up conversation with our Insights representative Kirsti Tcherkoyan regarding our integration of this evaluation and feedback tool at WESTAF. The adoption of Insights is going well since we introduced it to the team last year. The more use the system gets, the more useful it will become to the whole organization in a feedback, personal and professional development capacity.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>SUCHE NACH EINEM EXECUTIVE COORDINATOR (CG)<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We have received dozens of resumes for the position of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1NER6RIYnQUfOFfL9as0T7K_1LPT9ctPr\/view?usp=sharing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">executive coordinator.<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> We hope to identify a successful candidate by the beginning of May so that Natalie S. will be able to train this new person through the organizational process leading up to May board meeting, then have the new executive coordinator full onboarded through the summer and into the fall board meeting.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Vorsitzender der US-Regionalkunstorganisation und ED-R\u00fcckzugsort (CG)<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tamara und Christian nahmen letzte Woche zusammen mit den Vorsitzenden und EDs unserer f\u00fcnf Schwester-RAOs am j\u00e4hrlichen US-RAO-Vorsitzenden- und ED-Retreat teil. The data, published by the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/nasaa-arts.us18.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=91318ed679b9085966f05465c&amp;id=288897cf6b&amp;e=5c98ab27cd\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (BEA) in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts (Arts Endowment), are an authoritative source for the value of the creative economy in every state. In addition, NASAA also released the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/nasaa-arts.org\/nasaa_advocacy\/arts-and-creativity-strengthen-our-nation-a-narrative-and-message-guide\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>Arts and Creativity Strengthen Our Nation<\/b><\/a><b>, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">which<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">shows advocates how to make a case for public support of the arts as a core necessity\u2014rather than as an optional nicety. Its recommendations originate from extensive message testing and research on the values that motivate elected officials.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>202. There were opening remarks and routine voting on recommendations for grant funding, followed by updates on arts endowment activity from the Acting Chairman Ann C. Eilers.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>SITZUNG DES NATIONAL ARTS ACTION SUMMIT ZUR GESETZGEBUNG DER KREATIVEN WIRTSCHAFT UND DER KATASTROPHENBEHANDLUNG (DH)<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">David wurde eingeladen, als Diskussionsteilnehmer an einer Informationssitzung zum Thema Interessenvertretung beim National Arts Action Summit teilzunehmen, bei der es um zwei Aspekte der Politik zur Kreativwirtschaft geht: Erstens um die F\u00f6rderung der gewinnorientierten und gemeinn\u00fctzigen Kreativwirtschaft durch Bundesgesetzgebung mit besonderem Schwerpunkt auf bewusst unterversorgten Gemeinden. Weitere Diskussionsteilnehmer sind die US-Abgeordnete Chellie Pingree (D-OR), Narric Rome, Americans for the Arts, Craig Nutt, CERF+, Carolyn Ryan, Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce, Frank Cullen, US Chamber of Commerce, Jonathan Glus, San Diego Arts &amp; Culture Commission und Amy Schwartzman \u2013 National Coalition for Arts\u2018 Preparedness and Emergency Response (NCAPER).<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>WESTAF BEGR\u00dcSST MOANA PALELEI HOCHING ALS SENIOR POLICY ASSOCIATE (DH)<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Moana Palelei HoChing kam am 1. April zu WESTAF, um als Senior Policy Associate zu arbeiten, eine Beraterfunktion, in der sie wichtige Programme f\u00fcr \u00f6ffentliche Politik und Advocacy verwaltet und den Direktor f\u00fcr Wirkung und \u00f6ffentliche Politik ber\u00e4t. At our last meeting, cohort members reported on some internal research including refining a survey that will be sent to WESTAF internal and external stakeholders. In addition, we are finishing up an evaluation of WESTAF\u2019s brand assets. Our next meeting is scheduled for April 7th and we will be checking-in on the moving parts to this project. We will also be moving into a research compilation phase on that date. Once we compile the research we will move into the first phase of our recommendations. The policy cohort met with our Trustee Advisors on March 19th to review<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1RXp4z0xSX_WCPPDbkATdUV8bt7ez3gw7oAvt8JeClLE\/edit#heading=h.q8t1dy7957hl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the scoping doc<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and address any concerns. The document is now finalized and will be utilized as a guide to identify upcoming initiatives for the cohort. Co-leaders, Janae and Justine, met with David on Tuesday, March 30th to recap their meeting with the TAs and identify project proposals for the group. Das Team hat au\u00dferdem k\u00fcrzlich mit Common Notice gesprochen, um unsere verbleibenden Storytelling-Sitzungen anzupassen, um einige der Herausforderungen der Arbeit in einer verteilten Umgebung zu bew\u00e4ltigen.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>KOMMUNIKATIONEN UND ANK\u00dcNDIGUNGEN (LH)<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Over the last few weeks, we released a handful of significant announcements, including <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westaf.org\/westaf-welcomes-new-director-of-social-responsibility-and-inclusion-anika-kwinana\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">our new Director of Social Responsibility<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Die <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westaf.org\/westaf-welcomes-the-2021-emerging-leaders-of-color-cohort\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2021 ELC program cohort<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, an <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/WesternStatesArtsFederation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ELC alumna joining David\u2019s team<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the extension of the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westaf.org\/grants\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">TourWest<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> 2021 application deadline program, and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westaf.org\/westaf-statement-on-murder-of-asian-american-women-and-others-in-georgia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">a statement on the murder of Asian American women and others in Georgia<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. In mid-March, Leah participated in a kickoff RAO communications meeting, to provide an opportunity for RAO communications staff to explore possibilities for increased information sharing and cross-promotion of stories and grant opportunities across the six regionals. As a first step, the group has created a shared document with all six RAO\u2019s tentpole activities for the year for better information sharing. We will meet again in mid-April to continue discussing the many great ideas that were shared in the March meeting and plan to meet on a monthly basis moving forward. The April edition of WESTAF Now is nearly complete and will be delivered in mid-April. We have been submitting content monthly for the National Endowment for the Arts Newsletter and are currently working on the Spring RAO Activity Report.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>TAGUNGEN UND VERANSTALTUNGEN (LH)<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After wrapping a successful 2021 Arts Leadership and Advocacy Seminar (ALAS), the MarComm team is now working on a plan to share out the recordings from the event more broadly. We are also planning to build a page on <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westaf.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">WESTAF.org<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> devoted to the Seminar, which we hope to launch by May.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westaf.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>WESTAF.ORG<\/b><\/a><b> (LH)<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We continue to refresh portions of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westaf.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">WESTAF.org<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">; most recently, Sam revamped the Technology page (now <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westaf.org\/web-services-for-the-arts\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Web Services for the Arts<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0 and we hope to launch the newly formatted News page in April as well. We are also currently working with the SRI team on a plan to build out a designated TourWest page to better showcase the program and its grantees and, as mentioned earlier, a page specifically devoted to the Arts Leadership and Advocacy Seminar.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>TECHNOLOGIEPRODUKTMARKETING (LH)<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">GO Smart \u2014 We recently launched our first paid social media video ads for GO Smart, which will run throughout the month of April, and are working on making further improvements to the GO Smart sales site, currently focusing on the Features page. Our 2021 blog and SEO strategy has been initiated, with <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gosmart.org\/5-steps-for-creating-a-strong-grant-proposal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">a March blog<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (authored by WESTAF\u2019s new communications coordinator, Natalie Scherlong!) on tips for creating strong grant proposals. CaFE \u2014 the team recently wrapped up its Q1-Q2 campaign targeting galleries, which generated a list of 40 qualified leads for followup by Ken. With both the email and social media campaigns performing so well, we are working on further segmenting our marketing list of over 2,800 potentials to identify additional audiences based on our CaFE personas to develop a Q3 marketing campaign focused on a smaller, more targeted group. CVSuite \u2014 the CVSuite team is making great progress on its third Creative Vitality List (see CVSuite biweekly recap for more info), expected to launch at the end of April. The MarComm team is launching a new Google ads campaign in April specifically around <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/cvsuite.org\/features\/services\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CVSuite\u2019s Reports<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in hopes of increasing traffic to the reports page to generate more sales around those offerings. We are also planning to launch our first set of paid social media video ads in Q3. PAA \u2014 Sam recently worked with Lori to design a fun, fresh newsletter to the PAA master list of 4,566 contacts. The newsletter highlighted special projects in collaboration with Mural Arts Philadelphia and featured some of PAA\u2019s collection spotlights, new features and enhancements. So far, the newsletter generated three leads and significantly increased traffic to the PAA website. We are currently working on drafting copy for PAA\u2019s first paid social media video ad, planned for an early Q3 launch.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>ALLGEMEINE GESCH\u00c4FTE (CV)<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Christina hat daran gearbeitet, die ZAPP-Vertr\u00e4ge zu \u00fcberpr\u00fcfen und zu aktualisieren, um die Umstellung auf EFT-Zahlungen sowie eine durch die Pandemie bedingte Aktualisierung der Klausel zu h\u00f6herer Gewalt zu ber\u00fccksichtigen. PAA completed the import of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.publicartarchive.org\/results\/#\/results?type=collection&amp;term=Park%20City%20Public%20Art%20Collection&amp;page=1&amp;sorting=date&amp;order=asc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Park City\u2019s public art collection<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and recently submitted a proposal to Summit County for the use of the PAA CMS and showcase features.
